Insulin Resistance – April 19th, 2019

Nutritional Endocrinology Practitioner Training (NEPT)
Clinical Pearl

April 19th, 2019

I’m buried in Sweet Spot stuff, so all I can think about is insulin resistance.

My pearl of wisdom this week is to encourage all your clients to, at a minimum, get their fasting insulin and hemoglobin A1c tested, along with fasting glucose. If anything is out of range, encourage them to get a glucose meter, and teach them how to test. If they have a cooperative and well-educated doctor, see if they can get a prescription for the Freestyle Libre Continuous Glucose Monitor (CGM).

I put together a lab testing guide they can get as a free gift here.

There’s a video that goes along with it.

Ideal ranges are Fasting glucose below 89.

Fasting insulin 2-3, at most 5.

Hemoglobin A1c 4.5 – 5.

If they are a little outside this range tell them there are things they can do to improve, and it’s best to monitor every year.

If more than a little outside, they need help ASAP!
